A-20R912 Vista Cruiser
Modification of the basic version with a shorter span of the wing and tailplane, more powerful (80-100 hp) engine enclosed in a cowling, variable pitch propeller, fully balanced control surfaces, more streamlined landing gear and wing braces. Its design goal was to obtain an ultralight with good cross-country performance at the same time preserving the safe low-speed flying capabilities of the basic version.
The Vista Cruiser has been re-engineered to a "higher & better use" around one of the most potent and well regarded new aircraft engines - the Rotax 912-S. Derived of the legendary 912 that entered service in 1989, the new 912-S is a technical marvel that yields 100 horses from only 80 cubic inches - a modern design with a pedigree for long TBO intervals and reliability. With the Rotax 912-S, the Cruiser is the culmination of two great refinements - engine and airframe. In order to optimize balance with the new larger engine, the Cruiser's wings were swept back 1.5 degrees - a testament to the engineering sophistication of its designers. The Cruiser incorporates other refinements as well, including an aerodynamic engine cowl with prop spinner and fully balanced controls. Vne is 140 mph, up from 112 mph for the base Vista.
The Cruiser comes as an assembly kit of finished parts (including all fiberglass & composite components), a complete "final assembly kit" or as a factory finished aircraft. The Super Cruiser option provides a 1,210 pound gross weight for increased useful load capability, and optional dual wing tanks for a fuel capacity of 48 gallons. The extra wing tanks allow removal of the fuselage tank, for a larger baggage compartment.
